A service provided without love of service, is no different from a deafening and blinding echo chamber, because it prevents things from being done properly, due to the perverse influence of excess or countermeasures. Image: pixabay/Angelo Giordano/Février 2015

Analyze/In 2015, when a journalist of investigations asked a female mechanic why she was in a profession traditionally dominated by men, she replied by saying that,

"It is because she wants to do it, because she wanted to do it, and because she did everything she could to succeed."

She later added that she will always encourage all women who will choose to pursue the same profession as her. This demonstrates that service, and we emphasize, true service, is not only a matter of will and determination, but also a question of good mind-set. Indeed, we are not solely defined by what we do or what we are capable of doing through the acquisition of practical skills, but above all, by how we do what we have freely chosen to do, despite the fact that some people, for various reasons, tend to say that what they do as a profession, or income-generating activity, is something they do because they have no choice.

But even when one believes we have no choice, something which isn't entirely true, given that Men always have the possibility to choose, we continue by saying that, engaging yourself in an income-generating activity or not, implied the necessity to do what we have freely choose to do out of love, because it involves giving satisfaction to others, while first and foremost, being proud of doing what one has freely chosen to do, because that is what every actors in growth and development process in a country is called upon to do, within a specific set of economic contexts where everyone has their role to play. This is why, it is always preferable to do what we have freely chosen to do, not only out of love, but also with love, because it is by proceeding in this way that it is possible to provide a quality service, that will improve significantly over time. Moreover, we must not simply do something because we haven't found anything else to do, but because whatever we freely choose to do, we will always be ready to demonstrate a seriousness that we would be willing to demonstrate elsewhere, because we are motivated by the love of doing well what we have freely chosen to do. And even if the work environment sometimes does not foster good self-esteem or the valorisation of a set of skills that go hand in hand with know-being which is a responsible attitude that demands seriousness and honesty in everything we do, it will no way diminishes a determination underpinned by a real desire to serve, and to earn money or not, by providing a service to others with a joy that is notably expressed through devotion to a set of tasks that involve considerable seriousness and sacrifice, without, however, hesitating to fight for our rights when necessary, because that too is what loving one's work signify.

By asking ourselves why people always want more than what they already have, we have reached the conclusion that it is links to the real motivations of people, and the influences of a set of systems that bear a large share of responsibility in the quality of services that many people choose to adopt on a daily basis. In other words, the reasons why they choose to do one thing or another, are the product of a series of influences that always contribute to reinforcing or not, the resurgence in society of a set of bad habits and attitudes that are plaguing many, if not most, sectors of activities. If, despite the reality of these bad practices that tarnish the image of several sectors of activities, many still choose to persevere in the integrity of their conscience, it must be said that, they are aware of the fact that they operate within a set of contexts where the search of unofficial goals have taken the time to establish bad norms that some people, particularly in certain geographical areas, feel entitled to perpetuate openly, because they believe that enjoying a set of privileges gives them the right to overstep their bounds. This is why, when some choose to embark themselves on a frantic race towards an illusory gain that produces more harm than good in society, that is to say, which does not produce anything good in reality, others on the other hand, act on the basis of the uprightness of their moral conscience, contenting themselves with a fair measure which certainly does not make unanimity, but is still a real cause of satisfaction, motivation and inspiration for those who will want to act likewise, in a set of societies where good and bad motivations are confused, especially because of those who have made the choice to perpetrate bad practices which bring nothing good to societies where values and counter-values coexist, thank to a set of followers pursuing diverse objectives and intimately linked to the quality of the motivations which drive them on a daily basis. And speaking specifically of those who advocate countermeasures, it must be emphasized that, it is on the basis of the ongoing application of pseudo-norms or false motivations in society that they have the pretention of always act in the direction of a good that is not in reality, because it is a set of deplorable attitudes that they try clumsily to perpetuate or to impose to many people as possible, in societies where populations are more receptive to ideas of change by all possible means, particularly because of the precariousness and poverty that prevent them from having real and satisfactory prospects for the future.

The beauty of the final product is always a reflection of what was initially conceived in their mind. They give to their work a beautiful appearance, because they want to sell not only something useful, but also something beautiful. Useful because most of them meet their needs by selling a set of realisations rich in symbolism and teachings, in a world where they very often choose to express their commitment to certain causes, through their realisations; and beautiful because, in conceiving a work in their mind, their goal is to captivate the attention of those who will behold it. If the fact of working hard to earn a living by providing services to others is a honourable thing, it is nevertheless important to note that, in matters of services, what is wrong is not the service itself, but what is put into it, to the point of prioritizing inappropriate self-interest over the love of service, as if to say that, the love of service is useless, because only the love of gain matters, and must be pursuit at all costs. This is completely false, because nothing good or beautiful can be done without love. Let's take the example of a craftsperson who takes the time to translate into reality what he or she have taken the time to create in his or her mind. The beauty of the final product is always a reflection of what was initially conceived in their mind. They give to their work a beautiful appearance, because they want to sell not only something useful but also something beautiful. Useful because most of them meet their needs by selling a set of realisations rich in symbolism and teachings, in a world where they very often choose to express their commitment to certain causes, through their realisations; and beautiful because, in conceiving a work in their mind, their goal is to captivate the attention of those who will behold it. And all of this, is only possible when one loves what one does. Without love, it is impossible to be satisfied with a profession that one has freely chosen, even if it allows us to earn money. And that is what many people very often don't understand, when asking to certain people why have they left this for that other thing, because they believe that what has been newly adopted, is worthless compared to what has been left. And even though, when asking such questions, those who ask them most often, emphasize on the financial aspect, it must be said that, even if people work to earn money, they also want to be more fulfilled in what they do, because they are the best person to know what is best for them, and above all, what motivates them in their choices.

Just as one cannot speak of a love of service when it is absent, or when there is no love of service in a service provided out of self-interest, and without any genuine desire to serve, a service provided without love of service, is no different from a deafening and blinding echo chamber, because it prevents things from being done properly, due to the perverse influence of excess or countermeasures. Indeed, we live in societies where, even those whose actions do not conform to the norm, believe they have chosen the better part, because they make much more money by adopting such lifestyles whose adherents can be found in both the upper and lower classes of our societies where juvenile delinquency and precariousness are realities exploited by certain wealthy individuals, to bring the most vulnerable to commit regrettable acts, motivated by criminal tendencies. And even if those who act without intending to sow chaos are sometimes apprehended, they should not be confused with those whose actions can be justified by very dangerous motivations which are themselves, a consequence of the persistence in society of a range of reprehensible acts committed by individuals with perverse mentalities, and motivated solely by the illusory pursuit of ill-gotten gains that concretely reflect the reality of the world we live in. A world where many would like to impose banditry and dishonesty as virtues. A world where the love of a job well done is rivalled by the love of ill-gotten gains. A world where hideous motives seek to corrupt the actions of truly virtuous role models, who must demonstrate greater resolve in refusing to accept just anything, because to act unjustly towards others or the society in which one lives, is to be driven by a set of evil motives, that will always lead to useless and reprehensible acts in a set of societies in perpetual construction and reconstruction.
