Who are we?
If it is God who created the universe and we are convinced of this (Genesis1: 1-2), this assumes that everything on earth in heaven and even in hell is under his authority. He is above everything. Even if the evil one reigns, the power of his will, will never prevail over that of God. The real authorities come from God.
What matters to us is not how long you exercise that authority given to you but, how you exercise it. Abusing authority for personal gain is not different from robbery. Whoever acts against the justice he is supposed to promote, is himself liable to be sanctioned by this law. The rebellious is not the one who run a traffic light because he has an emergency, or the one who steals a donut because he is hungry. The rebel is above all one who creates damage for his own satisfaction. The one who has what he needs, but who steals what belongs to others. He is the one who turns away or circumvents his own rules for his own benefit. He is the one who has a partner but also prefers to maintain six or even seven concubines. He is the one who will not give what is due to others, as long as he has not withdrawn his share of what belongs to others. It is the one who does not want to be satisfied with what he has and who spends his time to envying what belongs to others. Who are we? We believe that the real solution to our problems is not the good we expect from others but the good we refuse the give to others because of our wickedness.
